Rentrée 2026: from television channels to media ecosystems
Autumn 2026 shows the same movement across Belgium's major broadcasters: streaming and digital platforms are taking on a larger role alongside linear television. VTM, VRT, Play Media, RTL Belgium and RTBF are continuing to expand their offering across multiple screens and distribution formats, with content increasingly organised around target audience and moment of use.
VTM (DPG Media Advertising) is explicitly focusing on the combination of VTM and VTM GO, with a broad offering ranging from entertainment and fiction to reality, current affairs and live sport. VRT (Var) is making VRT MAX increasingly the central gateway to both video and audio; from the end of August, the VRT radio stations will also be available to stream directly there. Play Media (Ads & Data) targets the 'choice viewer' who switches between the linear Play channels and streaming platform GoPlay.
On the French-language side, RTL Belgium (DPG Media Advertising / Rossel Advertising) is further developing RTL Play alongside its linear TV, news, sport and radio brands. At RTBF (RMB), the offering is likewise being organised across an increasing number of platforms: La Une remains the broad TV channel, Tipik focuses more strongly on young adults, Tarmac is the urban digital audio and content brand for under-25s, and RTBF Auvio brings together the audio and video offering, both live and on-demand.
For media planners, this means the choice is less and less about which channel alone, and more and more about which platform, which viewing or listening moment, and which content context best matches the target audience.
