Short introduction
- What are you proud of?
- My radio past. Although it eventually came to an end, I now know I made the right choices. It was half of my career and shaped me into a versatile all-rounder: journalism, music, copywriting, organisation, management, IT, art... You can ask me for many things.
- In your free time, what do you like to do most?
- I am an inline skater and a larper. Inline skating is something you do whenever you like, a bit like dancing through nature. It is also the basis for many other disciplines: speed, think of Bart Swings; but also slalom, hockey, football and basketball. In our club, Roll&Skate Leuven, we practise them all. Larp, on the other hand, stands for ‘Live Action Role Play’, in short: ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ in real life. Every summer, I spend a week with about a thousand people at Ragnarok near Gouvy. We play as faeries and try to survive as best as we can in the world of Tanak. For this hobby and for cosplay sessions, I design my own fantasy costumes. It started with simple medieval tunics, moved on to 17th-century trunkhose, and even a replica of Cesare Borgia’s cardinal robe.
- Did you know that I…
- I enjoy doing voice-overs. Through my trusty AKG414, my voice still sounds just as clear and gentle. Of course, a telephone switchboard comes along now and then, but I prefer fairy tales and stories. Did you know my Saint Nicholas impression was inspired by a client who was a headmaster?
- Where would you go in a time machine and with whom/why?
- Back to 1973. I lost my mother when I was eight. She was a remarkable woman, perhaps even a saint to me. At the same time, I realise I hardly knew her. I would have loved to talk with her about everything that mattered then and still matters now. About the things she never spoke of with that eight-year-old child.
Philippe's Recommendations
- What is your favourite movie?
- Love, Simon
- What book would you recommend?
- De Bourgondiërs, although it is quite a hefty book. To be honest, during our trip to France we completed it with the podcasts.
- Can you recommend a good restaurant?
- La Filosofia Leuven, especially when they serve their delicious dishes with Måneskin playing in the background.
- Do you have another cool tip for us?
- Keep it quiet, but there is a holiday spot that feels like heaven on earth: Serre Ponçon. This reservoir of about 25 km² lies at 860 metres in the southern French Alps. It offers a Mediterranean climate, high mountains and swimming in drinkable water. Everything is possible here: from kitesurfing to waterskiing, paragliding through the mountains and, of course, plenty of hiking.
Last but not least
- What is your favourite quote?
- Our advertising doesn’t cost, it pays off. At least, that’s what we aim for! (self-invented quote)
- Who would you like to see in this section?
- To stay close to home, I think of Philippe Masscheleyn. He has built a long career in various communication roles within the agricultural world. He started as a teacher, worked as editor-in-chief of Drietand and later joined Boerenbond. There, he was editor-in-chief, director of communications and now leads the marketing department. A wealth of versatile experience I truly look up to.
